Vintage Japanese Pistol Eraser in Original Holster, 1960s/70s Novelty Stationery

£24.00

A wonderfully strange little piece of vintage Japanese stationery, a miniature pistol-shaped eraser complete with its original printed cardboard holster.

The cream rubber eraser is printed with a detailed pistol design and the word JAPAN, and even has a small hole through the centre. It slips into its brown paper holster, printed with faux stitching and a little ERASER label.
Believed to date from around the 1960s to 1970s, when Japanese novelty stationery was exported in huge variety, it is a brilliant survivor and particularly lovely for a collection of vintage erasers, childhood ephemera or unusual desk objects.

The original paper holster shows considerable age and wear, including tears, creasing and losses around the edges. The eraser itself also shows age and surface marks. Please see photographs, these signs of age are very much part of its charm.

For collecting/display only, not intended for use as an eraser.
