Vintage Japanese Strawberry Eraser, c.1980

£18.00

A wonderfully kitsch vintage novelty eraser from Japan, made in the shape of a large bright red strawberry.

The strawberry has a wonderfully tactile moulded surface, complete with raised seeds and a green leafy top. It remains unused in its original clear plastic packaging, and still retains the original paper label to the reverse.

The label reads:
“PLASTIC ERASER
DO NOT EAT
THIS IS NOT CANDY
NON-TOXIC
Made in Japan”

Dating to approximately the late 1970s to early 1980s, it is a lovely survivor from the era of colourful Japanese novelty stationery, when erasers were produced in increasingly playful food, fruit and everyday-object designs.
Particularly charming displayed alongside other vintage stationery and childhood collectables, and a lovely little piece for anyone who remembers collecting novelty rubbers.
